FitCityPHL is an annual full-day symposium that explores design strategies in workplaces, neighborhoods, and cities that improve health by promoting physical activity and healthy eating. It brings together individuals representing the sectors of architecture, planning, design, landscape architecture, development, public health, research and evaluation, academia, philanthropy, and government to learn about how the built environment can have a positive impact on the negative health trends currently facing communities - particularly obesity and other chronic conditions.

At this year's symposium, attendees will be able to interact with public sector leaders in a town hall format, learn about community engagement and workplace active design strategies, and participate in several walking tours highlighting local examples of active design.

A full agenda will be posted here when available.

FitCity is a collaboration between: Health Promotion Council & Public Health Management Corporation, Ballinger Associates, Community Design Collaborative, AIA Philadelphia, Delaware Valley Regional Planning Commission, Philadelphia City Planning Commission, Philadelphia Dept of Public Health, Center for Architecture and Design, Drexel University, American Diabetes Association, and Philadelphia Parks and Recreation.

After the symposium, please join The Fabric Workshop Museum next door for a Healthy Happy Hour and Fitness Tour of their current exhibtiion, Louis Kahn: The Power of Architecture. Participate in physical challenges such as climbing FWM's eight flights of stairs and enjoy a healthy shot of wheatgrass.
