This statement discloses the privacy policy of Plan Philly, a Project of WHYY/Newsworks. ("Plan Philly"). Plan Philly reserves the right to collect Personal Information from visitors to the domains Plan ("Web Site"). "Personal Information" is any information that allows one person to be identified or contacted by another, including -- but not limited to -- information about or relating to that person's name, mailing address, telephone number, and email address.

A "PlanPhilly Account Holder" is anyone who has created or currently has a My Plan Philly Profile.

By visiting our Web Sites, you give Plan Philly permission to process your Personal Information according to this Privacy Policy.

Plan Philly takes reasonable precautions to prevent the loss, misuse, and unauthorized alteration of Personal Information under our control. In addition, Plan Philly servers are protected by a firewall.

When you access any part of our Web Sites, our Web server software automatically logs information provided by your network connection and Web browser software, including the Internet Protocol (IP) address of your network connection and the type of Web browser and operating system that you are using. Our Web server may also log the URL of the file that you are requesting, the current date and time, and the URL of the last Web page requested by your Web browser.

Plan Philly analyzes this aggregated information to learn more about how visitors use our Web Sites, to analyze trends, to administer the site, to track visitor movement, and to gather general demographic information for reporting and sponsorship purposes. We do not attempt to match the Personal Information of individual visitors to information logged by our server.

To participate in Plan Philly's forums or to post entries to the Plan Philly Blogs, a visitor must be a My Plan Philly Account Holder with a Plan Philly Profile. To create a Plan Philly Profile, visitors must submit their name and email address; additional demographic information -- including mailing address and interests -- is optional. Plan Philly retains Plan Philly Profile information to enable Account Holders to retrieve lost passwords, and so that we can contact users about site-related topics in which they have expressed interest, or which we believe may be of interest to them. We also analyze this Plan Philly Profile information and use it to guide our business goals and to better serve our audience.

When a visitor subscribes to one or more of's newsletters, we ask only for an email address, name and zip, which we retain so that we can send the newsletter automatically and with limited personalized content. We do not retain other Personal Information, except in cases when the visitor has used the same email address to create a Plan Philly Profile.

From time to time, Plan Philly receives Personal Information about visitors of its Web Sites via offline sources like telephone or fax. We may use this in combination with visitor information collected online in order to improve the services we provide.

Plan Philly utilizes cookies on our Web Sites to record when visitors have logged in, thus preventing Plan Philly Account Holders from having to log in more than once during a single visit. We employ cookies to monitor overall site activity and trends as well.

When a visitor uses the upcoming "Send to a Friend" function on, Plan Philly may retain the friend's name and email address. Plan Philly send the friend an email message inviting him or her to visit the Web Site. Plan Philly stores this information temporarily for the sole purpose of sending this one-time message.

If a Registered Plan Philly Visitor's Personal Information changes, or if a visitor no longer wishes to be a Plan Philly Account Holder, Plan Philly will endeavor to correct, update, or remove the personal data that was provided to us. Visitors who have logged into the site can use their "Edit My Profile" link or they can send a request to change, correct, or remove information to privacy@Plan

We want to hear from you, we want you to share your hopes and dreams with us and other citizens who happen along our site. We also want you to feel free to voice your opinions, concerns and criticisms. That said, we will not condone obscenities, racial slurs any type of hate speak. While we will not edit forums and discussion boards, we will remove inappropriate comments. We will also permanently block users who continue to post that type of material.

We may request information from visitors via surveys on our Web Sites. We may also email surveys to Registered Plan Philly Visitor. Participation in these surveys or contests is completely voluntary. This information may include demographic data (such as zip code and age), and/or information about a respondent's role in the issue or initiative being studied.
